FORT STANTON LIVE
Fort Stanton LIVE 2024 IS RESCHEDULED FOR SEPTEMBER 28, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Fort Stanton Live
Step Back in Time at Fort Stanton’s Annual Historical Event!
Fort Stanton Historic Site and Fort Stanton, Inc. are thrilled to welcome visitors back to Lincoln County for the annual Fort Stanton Live celebration!
This rescheduled event will take place on Saturday, September 28, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Originally planned for July, the event was postponed due to the proximity of the South Fork and Salt wildfires in the Ruidoso and Mescalero areas.
Held every year in partnership with Fort Stanton Inc., Fort Stanton Live brings the past to life with costumed interpreters from the nineteenth century. The event features a variety of activities, including historical presentations, old-time games, and live performances. Attendees can enjoy infantry and artillery demonstrations, presentations by writers and historians, and see the work of quilters, weavers, and potters. The event also offers site tours, food vendors, and period-appropriate bands. Dancers from the Mescalero Apache Tribe will perform on the parade grounds, and other tribal members will serve Indian tacos and showcase arts and crafts.
This year, we are excited to celebrate the reopening of the newly rehabilitated Nurses Quarters with a unique ribbon-cutting ceremony. Visitors can explore new exhibits inside the Nurses’ Quarters and view a slideshow of historic images. Children can enjoy nurse and medical-themed activities throughout the day.
In honor of the nurses who once worked at the Fort, there will be a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., hosted by the Vitalant Bloodmobile, with cookies and juice provided by the friends’ group.
Admission
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children 16 and younger. Tickets are available online now: Purchase Tickets.
